About Iran

Iran, also called Persia, is located in the Middle East. It was once part of the Persian Empire and is today known as Persia. In recent centuries Iran has been a major empire. The country has a rich culture. Today, nearly 78% of the population speaks Farsi, or Persian. The official language is Farsi.

Called Persia in the West, it is bordered by Afghanistan, Pakistan and Turkey to its west; Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan to its north; Iraq and Kuwait to its south; the Persian Gulf and the Caspian Sea to its east; and Pakistan and India to its south. From the early modern period emerged Persia as a result of the decline of both activity of Iran's major regional empires and external pressure from Western European powers. The Persian nation contains many ethnic groups.

Most of the world's population speaks a form of Persian or its offshoot, known as Turkish. All Persian dialects derive from Old or Classical Persian. Dialectal differences are mostly minor, especially when comparing classic and modern (post-reform) Persian.

Iran has been an automotive center for more than a century, with domestic production of cars, trucks and buses. Development of the Iranian auto industry began in 1910 by the Pahlavi dynasty, which established Iran's first auto company called the Iran Manufacturing Company. It was intended to produce, assemble and sell the first domestic cars in Iran. By 1929, cars were being assembled locally by hand. The industry however did not mature until after World War II.

Iran has an area of 1,648,195 km², a population of over sixty million, and a history of civilization since the Neolithic age. Iran's rich history in art and music, as well as its extensive vocabulary of Indo-European origin (about one fifth of its lexicon), are indicative of its culture which continues to flourish despite Western efforts to suppress it.Of all the Persian grills I have seen, the one that is most often recommended as a top-of-the line model is the Weber Genesis II LX or E-310. The stainless steel grill body has 2 burners that can put out 22,000 BTUs of heat each and in combination will provide you with over 44,000 BTUs of total heat on the single cooking surface. There are four handy cooking shelves (three are interchangeable) which allow you to effectively and efficiently cook a wide range of meats including hamburgers, hot dogs, chicken breasts and even roasts.
