Metal fabrication equipment or machine tools manufacture products in a variety of metals, primarily steel and aluminium. These products are commonly fabricated through machining or by welding. Accurate cutting and material removal are important features of these machines. Welding is the joining of metal parts by heating the metal to its transition temperature, allowing it to flow and creating a pool of molten metal that cools and solidifies to form a cohesive bond between the base materials, producing a new structure.
The industrial machinery and equipment industry consists of companies engaged in manufacturing machinery and equipment. Machinery is any mechanical, electrical, or electronic device designed and used to perform certain functions. Industrial machinery and equipment can take many forms; a device that automatically performs a series of mechanical operations is known as a machine tool. Industrial machines are mechanical devices that apply force over a wide area (usually linear) in order to perform an output operation. A list of machinery and equipment used in a manufacturing establishment can include, but is not limited to, machine tools, lifting machines, hoists, forklifts and aerial lifts, tooling for machine tools, welding machines, machines for assembling electrical devices and instruments (incl. pneumatic and hydraulic), packaging equipment, Pressure switch, conveyor belts, silos and tanks.
